Peds to take over Great Highway

The City’s Sunday Streets program will be making its second appearance of the year this weekend, with the street-closure event set to take place in Golden Gate Park and the western neighborhoods of San Francisco. Cyclists, pedestrians, skaters and other exercise enthusiasts will have free rein over John F. Kennedy Drive and the Great Highway, both of which will be closed Sunday to automobile traffic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Great Highway will shut down from Lincoln Way to Sloat Boulevard, while John F. Kennedy Drive is slated to be off-limits to motorists from Crossover Drive to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The western portion of MLK will also be closed to traffic. A similar route was used last year for the Sunday Streets event.
